RAYNER TAN
Home YOD
Self-hosted YouTube downloader

Self-hosted server on a raspberry pi 5 and accessed via private Tailscale network, and paired with both a web frontend and a native mobile app. HomeYOD gives you a home-based YouTube on Demand.

You can pre-download youtube links (handled by yt-dlp project), which then adds to your HomeYOD library.

Stream directly from your devices via the web or iOS mobile app. Optionally download the video with or without subtitles to your device for offline viewing.

This project came from my annoyance of watching YouTube videos while on my daily commute, and getting stuck with endless buffering while in the tunnels.

I have made the code available for personal use via the GitHub repository. Feel free to self host it for your own use!
